The Organization of the Sports club of ObsessionA2 has launched today their third edition of the “LA VACA GIGANTE” by Oakley, the already established worldwide event of big waves is looking for being one of the most important competition in the world.
The event has been presented by its Managing Director, Pedro García, Zara Ursuguía, Cantabria ́s Regional Council’s Sport Director, Guillermo Blanco, CEO of the Cantabria Regional council and Juan Domínguez, Santander Council’s Sport Director.
On its third year in a row “La Vaca Gigante By Oakley”, if the forecast is good enough with waves of a minimun of 7 meters high, will come true during a waiting period between September and March. The sports Club of OA2 will call the surfers to ride this massive waves in this extreme challenge!
This event, it is an International reference that has already crossed all the borders, has a huge recognition on the surfing family calling the Legend ́s attention of this sport.
THE CONSOLIDATION OF LA VACA GIGANTE BY OAKLEY
Santander luckily counts with a worldwide event, a mandatory stop for all the International riders, in which location in the sea makes this city unique in the world, El Bocal beach will witness this event again.
Managing Director, Pedro García, has mentioned today about the massive repercution and consolidation of this event overseas:
”Santander city is growing every year as a brand name in the surfing community due to its location and weather conditions troughout the seasons, being a fantastic and unique destination for the Sea lovers. The media impact is also growing every year to an unspected numbers of visitors, with more than 500.000 people who has watched the Social media network during the following week and the more than 400 press releases in the International and national media”
Santander Council’s Sport Director, Mr. Juan Domínguez, said: “From the council of Santander, we are reallly proud of having this international event in the city and we really hope that its success keep growing every year, we expect that all the International Surfing community and the citizens of Santander will enjoy this unique event in Spain every year”. Also, he also he mentioned; “From the council of Santander, we had really clear to support this The Vaca Gigante event and even more now with all the expectation that has created. We really want to thank all the Cultural and Sports departments, to all the organization team and of course to the volunteers who are making this successfull and safety event”. “ I would also like to mention that is it a shame not to have the support of the department of Cantabria ́s Tourism. However, I feel really proud of having the maximum support from the Santander council and from the Cantabrias regional government”, Managing Director, Pedro García, mentioned.
MORE ENTERTAINMENT AND INTERNATIONAL PRESENCE IN THIS BOOMING EVENT
“La Vaca Gigante by Oakley” is an International challenge, what it means that all the selected riders need to receive an invitation to participate in this event. Despite of the 36 possible members in the competition haven ́t been selected, many International riders have been contacting the organization asking already for a participation card.
Furthermore, “La Vaca Gigante by Oakley”, following its aim on giving the same opportunity to the Female Big wave Riders, will call again to the Female International surfing community as it was on previous edition.
During this autumn / winter “La Vaca Gigante by Oakley” will boom again mixing females and males during this extreme event challenging waves of a 7m minimum. Get ready!!!
Another highlight for this event is the metallic pricing, the organization is working to make this prize bigger and bigger every year.
