Waiting for Neptune to give the order and the autumn- winter seem to come in motion.
La Vaca Gigante by Oakley presents the warning system which will be activated before the celebration of the Cantabrian big wave surfing competition, already an international benchmark.
The big wave surfing competitions such as La Vaca Gigante by Oakley are waiting for the accurate weather conditions in order to see a wave of at least 6 meters high and, with a waiting period which allows us to celebrate the competition between September 1 and March 31. In the case of the Cliffs of El Bocal, the necessary weather conditions that the wave requires to break are about 2,5 meters high and a period of 16-17 seconds with light south winds.
These peculiar conditions make the waiting period necessary, with a team that counts with the collaboration of AEMET Cantabria, monitoring the weather conditions. Without a clear date to celebrate the event, until La Vaca Gigante moos with the enough strenght, the Organization has designed a warning system.

If the conditions continue the expected evolution 48 hours after the yellow alert, the Organization will activate the orange alert which will set the 5 days before the beginning of the competition. In this moment, the participants will start to travel and the Organization will start its first checking in terms of security in the sea as well as in the place where the event will take place.
