Manu Lezcano, Spanish Big Wave Surfing Champion at La Vaca Gigante

The 11th edition of La Vaca Gigante is now history. 24 local and international surfers battled against wind and waves today in an epic showdown of XXL surf, with more than 12,000 spectators gathering at Las Canteras de Cueto (Santander, Cantabria) to witness this one-of-a-kind event.

This year’s edition was unique in that it was set to have multiple winners. However, due to weather conditions, only one of the three planned finals could be held—the Spanish Big Wave Championship final. The International Final and La Vaca Gigante Final could not take place.

As a result, there is one clear winner in the only final that was completed: Canary Islands surfer Manuel Lezcano, who claimed the Spanish Big Wave Champion title.

Since the main event final and the international final could not be held, the organizing committee decided to declare all six finalists as winners and split the prize among them.
