ObsessionA2 Club has revealed the new competition format of the Cantabrian big wave surfing competition which will have two variations when it comes to the competition.
La Vaca Gigante by Oakley will count with a cash prize of 2500 euros which will be for the winners in male and female division.

ObsessionA2 Club, organizer of the big wave surfing challenge La Vaca Gigante by Oakley has revealed two of its best kept secrets. The Cantabrian sports event proposes for this edition, two powerful competition formats for the 52 riders invited to challenge the wave from Santander.
The 48 male riders and the 4 female riders invited will compete according to two different formats which will be confirmed the days before the event. The election of the format will depend on the number of riders who will attend the event.
Although the 52 riders have accepted the invitation from ObsessionA2 to compete in this extreme challenge, the fact that there is a waiting period to celebrate the event from September to March normally causes some injuries that are replaced with others riders.
This is why the Organization has revealed two posible formats under the supervision of the event’s director Pedro García.
FORMAT 1. The 48 male riders who are called together will face La Vaca Gigante and its opponents in six heats of 45 minutes long and groups of 8 riders. The 8 best riders of the 3 first heats and the 8 best riders of the 3 last heats will pass to the second round.
The second round counts with 2 heats, each one of 45 minutes long and 8 riders. The 4 best riders of each session will be qualified for the final. In the final we will see 8 riders challeging La Vaca Gigante during 45 minutes.
On the other hand, the 4 female riders who have confirmed their attendence, who, for the first time, count with their own presence and ranking, will compete in a final round of 45 minutes long among all the female riders invited, with a maximum of 8 riders.
FORMAT 2. In the case of counting with 40 male riders, all of them will enter to the water twice in sessions of 45 minutes long, in heats formed by 8 riders.
They could ride a maximum of four waves for each session and score the four best waves of the day in order to obtain the final score.
The female riders will have two sessions of 45 minutes long with the same qualification system as the male riders.
The surfers’ habilities will score depending on the size of the ridden wave – La Vaca Gigante must be at least 6 meters high to be able to compete – , the quality of the wave and the fact of riding the wave successfully or not.

A VACA GIGANTE WITH EURO VALUE
Another revealed point by the Organization is the cash prizes which in this edition go up to 2500 euros. The best male rider as well as the best female rider will get a check from La Vaca Gigante by Oakley with a value of 1250 euros for each one: a novelty in this edition.
Also, La Vaca Gigante by Oakley will recognize the second and third positions in the ranking; the best Cantabrian rider and the best “wipe out” of the competition.
